Puppy’s Big Homecoming Day

After an excited wait, your puppy will be ready to join your family when reaching 8 weeks of age. This is the best time to join your family, as puppy is in a formative stage, fully weaned and will learn very quickly about the environment around them.

Your puppy can join you either by

1.     Collecting  puppy from our home,

2.     Meeting us when we come to Brisbane or

3.     Meeting puppy off a flight at your airport, or collecting from your Jet Pets Transit Lounge.

 Travelling with Puppy in car.

Your puppy will not have completed their vaccination course when they come to you, so please do not put puppy on the ground until you are home.

It is a requirement that dogs are secured when in a car. This can be either in a crate, or preferably sitting on a towel or blanket and secured in a puppy harness (buy a small size for a young pup, and we love the Ezydog harnesses).

  1.  Bring some food for puppy, especially if collecting from the airport, as puppy will be hungry.

  2.  Bring a water bowl and water to give to puppy if you have la long drive home, or if you are picking up from the airport.

Collection from home:

We are 2 ½ hours drive each way from Brisbane, and people usually meet us at Jet Pets in Brisbane to save a long car drive.

If you are unable to meet in Brisbane on the date we come down, then we can arrange to meet you at home. If you are collecting from home, you will need to follow our quarantine procedures

Meeting in Brisbane:

Once per litter, we take pups to Brisbane to keep the cost down for owners, and to take pups travelling interstate to Jet Pets. We are over 5 hours return drive to Brisbane, so there is a $50 fee to help cover costs. We can meet you on this day at Jet Pets, 160 Fison Ave West, Eagle Farm. Meeting time will usually be at 9:30am.

Puppies Flying Interstate

Our pups are usually confident and relaxed about travelling, thanks to genetics and early socialising. Pups can fly after 8 weeks of age, and are vet checked prior.

We arrange flights through Jet Pets. Usually there are 2 or more pups in a litter who travel interstate, so we need to make sure that the flight times work for the litter. Flights are usually arranged for a Friday, which gives most owners the whole weekend to settle in with the pup.

Locations:

Adelaide, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart / Launceston, Melbourne (Tullamarine), Mackay, Newcastle, Perth, Proserpine, Sydney, Townsville. Please enquire if you have a regional airport you need to send to, as we can usually assist.  We occasionally have had a pup go overseas into a therapy roles, and can arrange this. Please contact us if you require that.

Flights and Puppies:

We can only finalise flights once pups are microchipped at 6 weeks. The process is; once puppy is paid for, we ask Jet Pets to book a flight. They give us a Jet Pets Reference number. Jet Pets contact the airline, who in turn will email us a booking confirmation about 2-3 days later, which we will forward to you. It has all the flight information and where to collect from in the link on that email. That confirmation has the time and place to collect puppy. Jet Pets do offer a door to door service. This can be economical if you are busy and reasonably close to the airport.

Once the flight with your pup arrives, it will take about half an hour for your puppy to be ready for collection if you collect from the freight depot, or about 1 hour after the flight if you collect from the Jet Pets Transit Lounge. We suggest the Jet Pets Transit lounge, as if something happen such a vehicle breakdown on the way, your pup will be well tended and cared for, and not sitting waiting for you in their travel crate.

Please let me know when your puppy arrives, we really love seeing videos of when they first meet you, if you have a chance :)

TRAVELling HOME WITH PUPPY:

Please either have a travel crate for your pup for the way home, or simply pop puppy in a pet harness and on a seat with a towel on it. We find that a small sized Ezydog harness is good for smaller medium sized pups.

As always when travelling with dogs, please bring water if you have a long drive.

Puppy wont have eaten since early on the morning of the flight, so bring about 50gm of food to the airport with you.

Be very aware that dogs cannot handle being left in hot cars. They have a higher body temperature than humans, and can die or suffer from heat stroke very easily. Never leave your dog in a car if it is getting into the 20’s temperature wise, unless you can leave the car running with the air conditioning going.

Delayed Pickup

Should collection be delayed after puppy is 9 weeks of age, there is a boarding fee of $30 per day, which covers boarding, feeding, exercising, grooming if required, worming etc. Puppy is the responsibility of the owner from the 8 week collection age.
